Summer’s out, and so are 4 new guns from Ruger. Comprised of 2 new rifles and 2 new handguns, these new offerings can make this summer a time for hunting or target-shooting fun. First up is the new Ruger 10/22 Target Lite. This model comes with a red and black laminate stock, and a BX Trigger with a pull of 2.5-3 pounds. It has a cold hammer-forged barrel, encased in an aluminum alloy sleeve; the laminate stock has a thumbhole grip, cheek rest and rubber shoulder pad for maximum shooting comfort. According to Ruger, this model is designed to appeal to shooters “looking for performance, reliability and style.” MSRP of this new 10/22 Target Lite is at $649.
The second new rifle is a bolt-action, the Ruger 77/17 chambered in .17 WSM. This rifle features a stainless-steel 18.5-inch barrel, in a Green Mountain laminate stock. Ruger claims that this rifle offers accuracy and an improved trigger pull compared to earlier variants. Its MSRP is pegged at $1,069.
Meanwhile in the handgun category, Ruger released an updated variant of their Security-9 series. This latest model offers a factory-installed E-Series laser sight. The laser module weighs only a little over half an ounce and comes with a long-life battery already installed. The E-Series laser has the advantage of ambidextrous push-button control, and is excellent for increasing accuracy in low light shooting conditions. This Viridian-equipped Security-9 goes for $439.
Wrapping up Ruger’s new firearms is the 2nd new pistol, the SR1911 Officer-Style pistol. With its shorter 3.6-inch barrel and shorter grip frame, this makes for an excellent EDC and concealed pistol. In a press release, Ruger claims: “Compared to the SR1911 Lightweight Officer-Style, the steel frame on this new model retains additional weight for better balance, lower recoil and greater durability.” This new SR1911 Officer-Style pistol chambered in .45 ACP retails for $979. All these new firearms are now available nationwide from Ruger and your favorite dealers.
