Sept. 5, Polk County, Florida – Wisconsin-based firearms company American Defense Manufacturing won the contract to supply SBRs for the Polk County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team. The rifle that made the cut is ADM’s UIC (Universal Improved Carbine) Mod1 LE-X with an 11.5-inch short barrel.

William Phebus, spokesman for American Defense Mfg., says proudly of his company: “American Defense is not just a firearm assembler, but a full manufacturing facility, where we can control quality and maintain strict tolerances through all manufactured parts that result in superior performance and reliability,”

Pictured above is the 13.5-inch model, but it’s ADM’s UIC Mod1 LE-X with an 11.5-inch barrel that won over the Polk County Sheriff’s Department’s SWAT Team(

So what’s special about this particular AR-15 platform? Apart from having premium components for above-par performance and accuracy, the UIC Mod1 LE-X assures the sort of dependability that law enforcement agencies demand in order to fulfill their duties day after day. The rifle also features Rosco Manufactured barrels for improved accuracy, as well as other features such as fully-ambidextrous controls that include the charging handle, fire and safety selector switch, mag release, bolt catch and bolt release. Deputy Director of Polk County’s Central Services Bureau David Rounds emphasized that the standards for awarding a contract like this are extremely exacting and competitive, and that they only choose vendors that are deemed “the most advantageous”. The fourth largest county in the state of Florida, Polk County has a land area of over 2,000 miles and a population of 646,000. American Defense Manufacturing is scheduled to deliver the weapons in Q4 2018.
